Governed by a Board, SAWS serves as the authoritative voice for weather and climate services in South Africa and is a member of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

SAWS is seeking to appoint a dedicated and proactive Office Administrator to support the Aviation Weather Centre at OR Tambo International Airport.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing efficient administrative support to the aviation team and its stakeholders, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all administrative and operational functions as directed, including managing diaries and scheduling meetings electronically.
- Organize meetings and logistical arrangements, ensuring accurate minutes are captured, distributed, and resolutions implemented.
- Handle client queries and stakeholder feedback professionally.
- Assist with departmental budgeting and financial management throughout the financial period.
- Procure goods and services, coordinate income and expenses, and oversee asset control and inventory.
- Establish and maintain an effective filing system for departmental documents, including confidential records.
- Coordinate travel and accommodation arrangements for the team.
- Support the team in compliance with performance management cycles.
- Play an active role in implementing and maintaining the department’s Quality Management System.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
Minimum Requirements and Attributes
- A National Diploma in Administration or equivalent qualification in a related field.
- At least 2 years’ relevant experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Good interpersonal skills and stakeholder management abilities.
- Valid Code B driver’s license.
- Preference will be given to candidates not currently in permanent employment.
