The successful candidate will be responsible for providing consistent quality training in accordance with safety, legal, and national engineering standards.
The role involves ensuring compliance, managing training activities, and fostering a safe, efficient learning environment within metallurgical processes.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to legal requirements in the workplace.
- Compile the annual training catalogue by October for the upcoming year.
- Liaise with relevant departments and regulatory bodies to stay updated on technological developments impacting training needs.
- Conduct internal audits of training sections for compliance with site and legislative standards.
- Manage and maintain simulators and contribute to the training budget.
- Oversee the training budget to prevent overspending.
- Create an enabling environment for subordinates, manage their activities, and ensure team compliance via the Connect platform.
- Implement corrective actions when deviations from policies occur.
- Maintain training and assessment records with at least 5 years of experience in training, including metallurgical processes.
- Manage the training matrix aligned with site and legislative requirements.
- Attend and participate in ATR, safety, and standards meetings to monitor and evaluate training plans.
- Coordinate OEM training and monitor training delivery and records to meet audit standards.
- Collate, check, and refine training reports and data.
- Conduct customer evaluations and implement corrective actions accordingly.
Knowledge and Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to implement change management strategies for transformation and process optimization.
- Skills in quality management aligned with MQA and ISO standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify improvement areas and develop creative solutions with team involvement.
- Advisory skills to support line managers on HRD related topics.
- Commitment to safety standards and monitoring SHERQ incidents.
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate (Required)
- National Certificate: Occupationally Directed Education, Training and Development Practices NQF Level 5 (Required)
- Diploma/Degree in Metallurgy (Required)
- Valid Driver’s License (Code B / EB) (Required)
- Dover B Symbol (Advantageous)
Experience and Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ training and assessments experience, including exposure to metallurgical processes.
- Proven experience in managing training matrices, budgets, and compliance with legislative standards.
- Experience in conducting audits, creating training programs, and managing resources effectively.
