About the Role
The Claims Officer is responsible for supporting the Manager in managing litigated claims in collaboration with RAF Attorneys.
The role involves assessing, investigating, negotiating, and finalizing claims to ensure fair and efficient settlements while contributing to the reduction of legal costs.
The position covers various departments, including Settlement Hub, Determination, Mediation, Litigation, Payment Hub, Merits, and Adjudication.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preliminary assessments of litigated files
- Investigate, evaluate, and settle claims using technical and interpersonal skills
- Report complex claims for reinsurance purposes
- Assess and settle loss of earnings, general damages, funeral expenses, medical expenses, and loss of support
- Coordinate with assessors and legal counsel for merits and quantum verification
- Manage court orders, writs assessment, and settlement offers
- Escalate disputes and ensure compliance with legal procedures
- Provide trial preparation support to RAF Attorneys
- Prepare and analyze trial and out-of-court settlement reports
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications
- Four (4) years Degree in Law or equivalent
- Admission as an Attorney of the High Court or Advocate
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in claims or litigation environment

Additional Information
- Note: This is an eighteen (18) months fixed-term contract.
