About SECO
SECO’s Economic Cooperation and Development Division aims to foster socially, environmentally, and climate-friendly economic growth with more and better jobs across South Africa.
The SECO Cooperation Programme South Africa 2025–2028 emphasizes building a more competitive, sustainable, and inclusive urban economy.
Key partners include government departments, regional bodies, and international organizations such as GIZ and the World Bank.
Key Responsibilities
The National Programme Officer will:
- Manage and monitor SECO’s economic and financial policy portfolio in South Africa, focusing on public financial management and financial sector development.
- Oversee projects related to public procurement, infrastructure, investment management, debt management, capital markets, and financial stability.
- Lead efforts in capacity building, knowledge management, change management, and project sustainability.
- Maintain strategic stakeholder engagement with project partners and relevant institutions.
Profile and Qualifications
Candidates should possess:
- Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Finance, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in development cooperation or programme management.
- Proven experience in managing complex development projects.
- Strong networking and facilitation skills, with experience working with government institutions, research organizations, and international partners.
- Solid understanding of macroeconomics, public financial management, and financial sector development.
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in capacity building, training, and change management is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills and technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
