The Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality’s Public Safety Department (JMPD) invites young individuals aged 18 to 35 to apply for their Training Programme.

Successful applicants will undergo comprehensive training with the opportunity to become Metropolitan Police Officers serving the City of Johannesburg.
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens
- Possess a Senior Certificate (Grade 12 / NQF Level 4) or equivalent
- Domicile within the Johannesburg Metropolitan area (proof required)
- Have no criminal record or convictions
- Be willing to allow biometric and background checks
- Hold a Driver’s License (minimum Code B, no Learner’s license)
- Be aged 18-35 years
- Be physically and mentally fit (medical certificate required)
- Pass a pre-training fitness assessment
- Have no civil judgments related to fraud or corruption
- Be willing to undergo vetting processes
- Be proficient in English
- Be willing to carry a firearm and wear a uniform

Candidates should be reliable, honest, and possess a strong sense of justice and integrity.
They should demonstrate a positive attitude, patience, and the ability to work under pressure and in all weather conditions.
Terms of Training
- Duration: 18 months of rigorous training
- Outcome: Upon successful completion, trainees will be appointed as Metro Police Officers
- Training Venue: JMPD Training Academy
- Trainees will receive a stipend as per City policy
- Trainees will adhere to training contracts, academy rules, and RTMC policies
After Training
Qualified officers will take the oath of office and be deployed across any area within Johannesburg.
