The South African Weather Service (SAWS), a public entity under the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF), is seeking to appoint a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Business Analyst.

The successful candidate will assist in gathering, validating, and documenting system requirements, serving as a liaison between end-users and software developers to ensure system functionalities align with user needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business users to understand their requirements through interviews and stakeholder engagement.
- Create, review, and update manuals, procedures, and user documentation tailored to the target audience.
- Conduct training sessions for business users.
- Gather detailed user requirements and define user stories.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and streamline business processes.
- Collaborate with development teams to discuss and clarify requirements.
- Document system architectures using diagrams, flowcharts, site maps, and other visual tools.
- Capture data flows, server information, and system functions.
- Develop diagrams such as use case, activity, and system flow diagrams.
- Model scope, interfaces, data processes, and dependencies visually.
- Document both legacy and new systems comprehensively.
Minimum Requirements and Attributes
- National Diploma in ICT or relevant qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience in business analysis
- Knowledge of:
- Agile software development methodologies
- Business Process Modelling (BPMN 2.0) (advantage)
- Unified Modelling Language (UML) (advantage)
- Systems Analysis and Design
- Diagramming tools (MS Visio, LucidChart, etc.)
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Basic OOP coding experience
- Reporting tools such as Crystals Reports or Power BI
