SALGA is seeking a dedicated Receptionist to join their team, reporting directly to the Manager: Strategic Support & Analytics.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing front desk operations and providing exceptional administrative support.

Key Performance Areas

  • Ensure the front desk is professionally managed at all times
  • Coordinate logistics and boardroom meetings as requested by units
  • Provide secretarial support including administration of records and forwarding accurate information to staff

  • Enhance, organize, facilitate, and manage external and internal calls and messages from visitors
  • Screen incoming calls and direct them appropriately
  • Assist stakeholders and municipalities with information on their queries
  • Establish an independent reporting mechanism for frontline tasks

  • Assist with access control for entry into SALGA offices
  • Monitor and manage visitors at the front desk
  • Capture and forward all telephone messages to staff via the Electronic Messaging System

  • Update and monitor the telephone list
  • Perform any other responsibilities as required

Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric certificate
  • Experience as a Receptionist, Client/Customer Service in an office environment
  • Customer Service/Relations certificate is essential
  • Proven experience working in an office setting

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal relations skills
  • Ability to handle difficult customers with professionalism
  • Capacity to screen calls and prioritize effectively

  • Ability to provide basic information to callers
  • Capable of handling pressure and multi-tasking
  • Computer literacy is essential
