Job Purpose
The Marketing and Communications Intern will assist the Brand and Communications team in their daily operations, supporting various projects aimed at enhancing Barloworld’s marketing efforts and stakeholder engagement.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills in corporate communications, branding, event planning, and marketing administration.
Key Responsibilities
Communication and Corporate Branding
- Assist in creating, updating, and maintaining internal branding and communication materials.
- Support communication development across internal channels and collaborate with suppliers to source new materials.
- Help manage internal knowledge libraries, including photo galleries and video archives.
- Contribute to sourcing promotional items and ensuring brand consistency.
- Support the negotiation and approval process for branded collateral.
- Assist in maintaining the corporate website content with the content team.
Event Management
- Support planning and coordination of internal investor relations and marketing events.
- Engage external vendors for event logistics and equipment sourcing.
- Assist in setting up webinars, virtual meetings, and conferences.
- Provide media support related to company results and events.
Administrative Support
- Maintain project status reports and track departmental tasks.
- Assist with invoicing, budget updates, and inventory management of marketing materials.
- Manage departmental email queries and support calendar management for executives.
Essential Competencies for Success
Academic Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related fields.
Personal Attributes
- Strong willingness to learn and proactive approach.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Creative, flexible, and adaptable mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative team player with high attention to detail.
Skills and Experience
- Previous internship or experience in marketing, communications, or administration is advantageous.
- Basic understanding of marketing principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
- Keen interest in marketing, branding, or corporate communication careers.
