The successful candidate will provide professional, integrated social work services aimed at improving the social functioning of individuals, families, groups, and communities affected by substance abuse issues within the City of Johannesburg.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct social research, community needs assessments, and asset mapping to inform program planning.
- Provide casework services by collecting client information and developing intervention plans.
- Facilitate group work sessions to address common client needs through support, therapeutic, and educational groups.
- Offer community advocacy, empowerment, and developmental services to build resilience.
- Coordinate and integrate multidisciplinary approaches for holistic development.
- Handle crisis interventions promptly in emergencies as per relevant legislation and policies.
- Contribute to policy implementation and provide professional input for program development.
- Supervise social work students and social auxiliary workers, ensuring adherence to ethical standards.
- Manage confidential data and maintain administrative records professionally.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 plus a 4-year BA Degree in Social Work.
- 1-3 years’ experience in integrated social work practice or substance abuse programs.
- Must be registered with SACSSP (South African Council for Social Services Professions).
- Proficiency in computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver’s license is essential.

- R26 964.66 per month (basic salary, excluding benefits).
