Rand Water invites highly motivated recent graduates to apply for its Graduate Development Programme in Engineering.
The programme is designed to cultivate the next generation of technical professionals in the water sector.

This structured 24-month program aims to provide participants with comprehensive industry exposure, practical training, and mentorship, fostering the development of essential skills aligned with Occupationally Directed Education, Training, and Development Practices (ODETDP).
Programme Focus Areas
Participants will gain experience and training in:
- Freshwater Aquatic Sciences
- Water Technology
- Wastewater Technology
- Digital Technology and Innovation
Through hands-on training, fieldwork, laboratory activities, and digital tools application, graduates will develop the capacity to contribute meaningfully to sustainable water management initiatives.
The programme also aims to prepare selected graduates for potential leadership roles within the Rand Water Academy Technical School, supporting the organization’s strategic goals of technical excellence and innovation.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
Hold a relevant Master’s qualification (NQF Level 9) in one of the following areas:
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
Further requirements
- Be unemployed with no prior work experience related to the qualification.
- Be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID.
- Under the age of 35, complying with the National Skills Development Strategy III.
- Possess a valid Code 08 driver’s license (considered advantageous).
