Mineworkers Development Agency: Internship Opportunities for Grade 12 Graduates

The Mineworkers Development Agency (MDA) is pleased to announce a 12-month internship program designed to support young South Africans in gaining valuable work experience.

This initiative, funded by one of the big four banks, offers Administration Intern positions across various locations.

Locations and Positions Available

  • Marikana (4 positions)
  • Welkom (2 positions)
  • Rustenburg Detergent Plant (1 position)
  • Germiston Honey Processing Plant (1 position)

Interns will be placed as Administration Interns supporting the respective project teams at each site.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum qualification of Grade 12
  • South African citizens
  • Aged between 18 and 34 years

  • Preference given to individuals from previously disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Have never held a full-time position before (this is a first job opportunity)
  • Preferably not participated in a learnership or internship previously

  • Reside within 40 km of the respective offices/sites (Address to be specified)
  • Not currently enrolled in full-time studies

  • Willing to attend the internship full-time
  • Willing to undergo credit and criminal checks, or any industry-specific checks

Additional Advantage: Candidates with Computer Literacy or IT qualifications will have an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will undertake a variety of administrative and operational duties, including:

  • Capturing daily poultry/crop production data
  • Maintaining employee registers
  • Filing and general administrative tasks
  • Recording sales and cost of sales

  • Receiving and dispatching feed, vaccinations, and stock
  • Capturing details of learners, customers, and visitors
  • Producing monthly reports
  • Conducting field/site visits

Skills and Competencies

Successful applicants should demonstrate:

  • Strong attention to detail and delivery orientation
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment
  • Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
