Your Role at 1Nebula
Application Deadline: Applications open for a 6-month internship starting on 1 June 2025. The successful candidate will be based in Cape Town.
This internship offers a unique chance to apply technical knowledge in real-world scenarios and gain deep insights into cloud expense management, cost optimisation, and operational efficiency.
FinOps (Financial Operations) is an evolving discipline that helps organizations maximize business value by fostering collaboration among engineering, finance, technology, and business teams to make data-driven spending decisions.
Nebula’s Shared Support Services team supports global clients by enabling cloud technologies and managing associated costs, helping clients on their cloud journeys.
Interns will:
- Tackle real-life challenges
- Solve problems
- Participate in client engagements, financial analysis, and process improvement projects
- Work on meaningful projects that build confidence and prepare for future roles in technology
What You’ll Do
- Work closely with a mentor and fellow interns throughout your internship
- Gain exposure to engineering and finance teams focused on cloud cost optimisation
- Develop in-demand skills and certifications for a career as a FinOps Analyst
- Potentially secure a full-time Junior FinOps position at 1Nebula upon successful completion
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and upskill on cloud concepts
- Conduct investigations into customer cloud environments to identify financial optimisation opportunities
- Share knowledge with the greater Nebula team
- Document processes and methodologies
- Prepare and present findings to stakeholders
Certifications to Complete
- Azure Fundamentals: AZ-900
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong interest in FinOps with a willingness to learn and grow
- Demonstrated interest in analytics or cloud technology through self-study or certifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Strong self-management skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel experience
- Strong decision-making ability
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent analytical skills
- PowerBI experience is advantageous
