2025 Internships in Human Resources at the Council for Geoscience

The Council for Geoscience invites qualified and motivated individuals to apply for the position of Intern: Human Resources (x3 posts).

Position Details:

  • Position Title: Intern: Human Resources (x3)
  • Location: Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa (Head Office)
  • Duration: 24 months fixed-term contract
  • Stipend: R 13 000.00 per month
  • Reporting Line: Manager: Human Resources

This is an excellent opportunity for those seeking to gain practical experience within a dynamic government agency dedicated to geoscience research and services.

Overall Job Purpose:
To provide administrative and operational support to the Human Resources Business Unit, contributing to various HR functions and projects.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Recruitment: Support screening applications, scheduling interviews, preparing recruitment packs, conducting pre-employment screening, and onboarding documentation.

Administration: Assist with payroll, employee benefits, maintaining HR databases, employee files, and organizing events and meetings.

  • Learning and Development: Contribute to learning activities and programs.
  • Employee Relations: Support employee engagement initiatives.

  • Project Management: Assist with internal HR projects such as performance management and wellness programs.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with ISO standards and organisation policies.

Essential Personal Attributes:

  • Well-organized with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Strong report writing and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude

  • Willingness to learn and develop professionally
  • Computer literacy in MS Office Suite
  • Business fluency in English

Educational Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 and
  • NQF Level 5 qualification in Human Resources Management, Human Resources Development, or an equivalent qualification.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • No prior work experience required
  • Familiarity with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)Labour Relations Act (LRA)Employment Equity Act (EEA), and Skills Development Act (SDA) is advantageous.
