This position is a temporary 24-month contract based at the Wits School of Public Health in Johannesburg.
The main purpose of this role is to coordinate research projects focused on health economics, policy, and public health, particularly in areas such as obesity prevention, non-communicable diseases, and commercial determinants of health.
Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of the Witwatersrand.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning research processes and establishing timelines
- Coordinating meetings, steering committees, and strategic projects
- Preparing reports for steering committees and funders
- Assisting with data collection and analysis
- Organizing meetings and preparing presentations
- Contributing to academic publications and popular press articles
- Maintaining an organized record-keeping system
- Providing progress updates to relevant stakeholders
- Managing content for the project web page, including uploading publications
Minimum Education & Training
- Honours degree in Public Health or an allied discipline
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of the commercial determinants of health is advantageous
- Experience working on multi-country research projects
- At least 3 years’ experience in a research environment, public health, or similar field
- Strong interpersonal, diplomatic, and emotional intelligence skills
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion
- Excellent MS Office proficiency
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and establish effective working relationships

- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic research environment
