
The City of Cape Town is seeking qualified and motivated individuals to join the Environmental Management Department as Visitor Controllers.

This role involves managing visitor access, providing information, and ensuring safety within the reserve.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage access control and visitor management activities
- Operate point-of-sale systems and handle revenue reconciliation according to tariff structures
- Issue entrance permits and provide general information to visitors
- Collect and report visitor and financial statistics
- Render first aid and report environmental or security emergencies
- Oversee booking and closure of visitor facilities
- Assist with field work, firefighting, and transportation of goods and staff
- Work weekends and public holidays as per roster
Eligibility Criteria
- Suitably Qualified Candidates with relevant experience
- Minimum Grade 10 (NQF level 2); Grade 12 would be advantageous
- At least one (1) year of relevant experience at a Nature Reserve or similar environment; second year preferred
- Proficiency in basic arithmetic
- Bilingual in two of the three official languages of the Eastern and Western Cape (Afrikaans, English, isiXhosa)
- Firefighting experience
- Computer literacy in MS Office, MS Excel, and Microsoft Outlook
- Must be physically fit and able to work on a flexible schedule, including weekends and public holidays
- Experience in point-of-sale/till operation, stock control, and public interaction is highly advantageous
- Additional courses such as First Aid are beneficial
- A valid Code EB/C1 driver’s license and Professional Driver’s Permit (PrDP) are an added advantage
