
The South African Police Service (SAPS) is seeking two competent and motivated individuals to join the Division Human Resource Development at the SAPS Academy Philippi as Cooks.

This role involves preparing nutritious meals, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
Generic Requirements
- Applicants must demonstrate competency in core functions relevant to the position.
- Fluency in at least two official languages, with one being English.
- Must be a South African Citizen.
- No criminal or departmental convictions or pending cases.
- Willing to undergo a vetting process including security screening and fingerprint verification.
Additional Requirements
- Possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational) recorded on the NQF level 4.
- A Certificate in food preparation and/or catering will be advantageous.
- Ability to operate elementary machines and kitchen equipment.
- Willingness to work extended hours if necessary.
Core Functions
- Managing general mess matters and mess purchases.
- Controlling mess stock.
- Setting up the kitchen for meal preparations with utensils and equipment.
- Planning and preparing food according to a healthy menu.
- Ensuring well-cooked food and attractive presentation.
- Serving meals and providing waiter services.
- Maintaining hygiene and safety regulations in the kitchen.

As part of the appointment process, a buccal sample for forensic DNA profiling will be collected from shortlisted candidates.
Successful candidates will face an interview and practical assessment. Appointments are made in accordance with the Public Service Act, 1994.
