Afrimat Mining Services is recruiting for the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Learnership.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience & Skills
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent
- SAMTRAC / H&S Representative Training or equivalent certification
- Previous exposure in the mining and quarrying industry is essential
- Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and related mining regulations
- Good administrative abilities, including proficiency in MS Office
- Strong attention to detail and exercise due diligence
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Experience in building and maintaining relationships with clients and regulatory bodies
- Flexible working hours due to the remote nature of operational sites
- Medically fit for work
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Participate in and conduct HSE inspections as per the established schedule
- Assist in recording, reporting, and investigating incidents and accidents; ensure corrective actions are implemented and monitored
- Manage and oversee day-to-day HSE functions within designated areas, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards
- Maintain complete and up-to-date HSE files, ensuring adherence to client and regulatory requirements
- Assist with / conduct audits on HSE documentation; prepare and submit monthly reports for review
- Actively participate in SHHEQ-related meetings to ensure alignment with HSE objectives
- Develop and roll out HSE initiatives and campaigns to foster a safety-first culture
- Ensure full compliance with client-specific HSE requirements and support contractor management
- Assist reporting managers with administrative functions related to the company’s HSE management system
- Ensure compliance with legislation such as MHSA, OHSA, BCEA, NEMA, and others as per the legal register
