UNDP Zambia’s Energy and Environment Unit works closely with the Government and stakeholders to promote renewable energy access, climate resilience, and sustainable development aligned with Zambia’s Vision 2030 and the SDGs.
The interns will support ongoing projects such as the Community Recovery and Resilience Facility and Just Transition Projects, collaborating closely with the Programme Analyst and engaging with various partners, including government agencies, civil society, private sector, and academia.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Programme Analyst, interns will:
- Support the policy development and project implementation related to energy and environment.
- Conduct literature reviews on energy, climate change, and natural resource management.
- Analyze data, research findings, and policy documents for reporting and decision-making.
- Prepare reports and updates on SDG7, gender equality, climate action, and governance.
- Assist in organizing stakeholder engagements, such as meetings, workshops, and webinars.
- Collect and disseminate information relevant to the Unit’s thematic areas.
- Maintain digital and physical filing systems for project documents.
- Contribute to outreach activities targeting partners and stakeholders.
- Support ad hoc activities as needed to advance the Unit’s objectives.

Education & Experience Requirements
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a postgraduate degree (e.g., Master’s) or final year of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as environmental sciences, energy, sustainable development, or related disciplines.
No prior work experience required, but relevant internship or project experience in energy, environment, or sustainability is an advantage.
Proficiency in data analysis, research, and computer skills is desirable. Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

- Required: English
- Preferred: English (fluency required for effective communication and report writing)
