IFAD Internship Programme 2025 (stipend, housing and travel allowance available)

Applications are ongoing for the International Fund for Agricultural Development’s (IFAD) Internship Programme.

IFAD, an international financial institution and specialized United Nations agency, is committed to eradicating rural poverty and hunger through investments in rural populations.

The organization finances programmes and projects aimed at increasing agricultural productivity and raising rural incomes, while also advocating for policies that promote rural transformation at local, national, and international levels.

Programme Overview

The regular Internship Programme (IP) and Enhanced Internship Programme (EIP) provide a valuable six-month learning opportunity for recent university graduates or students currently pursuing specializations relevant to IFAD’s mission.

Eligibility Criteria

Prospective candidates for the Internship Programme must meet the following requirements:

Age: Applicants must be 30 years old or younger.

Education: Candidates must either:

  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited university or graduate school, have attended courses within the last 12 months, and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies at the time of joining the programme.
  • Have recently completed university studies at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.

Language Proficiency: Candidates must be fluent in English. Fluency in other IFAD official languages is considered an asset.

For interns recruited in IFAD country offices, multi-country offices, or regional office locations, fluency in the main country language may be required.

Enhanced Internship Programme: The Enhanced Internship Programme is specifically designed to improve the geographic distribution of staff within IFAD.

It is open to candidates who meet the aforementioned eligibility criteria and are not currently based in Rome.

Programme Benefits

Participants in the regular Internship Programme receive a monthly allowance. In addition to a monthly allowance, interns accepted into the Enhanced Internship Programme receive a housing and travel allowance.
