Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute Internship Programme 2025

The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) is pleased to announce the launch of its fourth annual Internship Programme, scheduled to run from May to November 2025.

This programme is specifically designed for undergraduate and postgraduate level students.

The CMMI’s objective through this initiative is to introduce aspiring talent to sea-related disciplines and to foster their understanding of industry and societal demands within the marine and maritime sectors.

For university students and recent graduates, the CMMI Internship Programme presents a distinctive opportunity to acquire immersive experience and explore the work conducted by scientists.

The Institute seeks candidates who demonstrate a robust interest in research, possess maturity, willpower, and enthusiasm for working within a research centre, and are motivated to learn and contribute positively to a team.

Key Areas of CMMI Expertise

The CMMI’s expertise spans several key areas:

DIGITAL: Robotics and Autonomous Systems, Internet of Things, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transformation

MARINE: Environmental Modelling and Mapping, Marine Bioresources, Ecosystems and Invasive Species

MARITIME: Vessel Design and Performance, Decarbonisation, Emissions monitoring, Alternative Fuels

SOCIAL: Society, Culture and Heritage, Safety, Risk and Regulation, Human Resources Development (upskilling and reskilling).

Entry Requirements

Prospective applicants are expected to meet the following criteria:

  • Undergraduate/Postgraduate students or recent graduates with a good academic background
  • Fluency in English (verbal & written)
  • Strong IT Skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Duration

The CMMI’s internship programme is conducted at the Institute’s offices in Larnaca. The duration of the internship ranges from 3 weeks up to 3 months.

Students may have the option to modify the programme duration following a consultation with their assigned buddy/mentor.
