Applications for the Cedefop Traineeship Programme 2025 – 2026 are now open!

The deadline for submitting applications is Thursday, 5 June 2025, at 13:00 Greek time (CET +1).

The traineeships offer individuals a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the work of the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop).

Programme Overview

Cedefop, the European Union agency dedicated to shaping learning and skills for Europe for the past 50 years, is pleased to announce the opening of its traineeship program.

Located in the vibrant city of Thessaloniki, Greece, Cedefop provides a stimulating environment for professional development.

The traineeships are 10-month paid positions, typically commencing on 1 October 2025.

The program is designed to provide trainees with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, build real skills, expand their professional network, and make a tangible contribution to Europe’s future.

Trainees will be integrated into Cedefop projects, receiving guidance and mentorship from experienced supervisors to facilitate their professional and personal growth.

Eligibility Criteria

Prospective applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the traineeship program:

Nationality: Applicants must be citizens of an EU Member State (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden) or an EFTA country (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland).

Education: Applicants must have successfully completed a post-secondary education program of at least 3 years (minimum EQF level 6).

This includes qualifications such as a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent. The required qualification must have been obtained within 3 years by the closing date for applications.

Language Proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the English language at a minimum of C1 level in all dimensions, as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Ineligibility

Individuals are ineligible to apply under the following circumstances:

  • Failure to meet the aforementioned eligibility requirements by the closing date of the traineeship notice.
  • Having previously benefited from any form of paid or unpaid traineeship or employment within an EU institution, body, agency, or office for a cumulative period exceeding 6 weeks.

Financial Support

Trainees receive a monthly maintenance grant, which is subject to regular updates. The current grant amounts are as follows:

  • EUR 952.24 per month for trainees who were already residing in Thessaloniki prior to the commencement of their traineeship.
  • EUR 1,269.65 per month for trainees relocating from a location more than 50 km away from Thessaloniki.

Application Process

Applications for the Cedefop Traineeship Programme must be submitted online via the ‘Vacancies’ webpage. Applications received by email or post will not be accepted.

The online application must be completed in English and must include two mandatory attachments:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English.
  2. Proof of completion of the required education: This can be a copy of the Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent qualifications. Translations are not necessary if the document is issued in any official EU language. Applicants may also include relevant language or other certificates.

It is strongly recommended that applicants submit their online application well in advance of the deadline to mitigate potential technical issues as the closing date approaches.

Due to the high volume of applications anticipated, Cedefop will not be able to respond to individual queries.

However, an automatic notification regarding the outcome of the application process will be sent to all candidates at the conclusion of the selection procedure.
