2025 – 2026 Postgraduate Internship Opportunity at PDG Development Consultants in South Africa

PDG, a public sector consultancy with offices in Cape Town and Johannesburg, is seeking applications for a full-time paid internship.
The organisation has a long-standing reputation for providing expert support to the public sector and is committed to developing young professionals.
Opportunity Details
This is a 12-month internship designed for a young postgraduate with an interest in public policy. The program offers a customised learning and development experience focused on building professional skills.
Internship Period
The internship is scheduled to begin in July 2025 and will conclude at the end of June 2026.
Minimum Requirements
Prospective applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a recent graduate holding an Honours or Masters qualification in a relevant field (including, but not limited to, civil engineering, economics, commerce, statistics, geography, environmental science, accounting, data science, public administration, sociology, or political science).
- Be a South African national under the age of 30.
- Possess fluency in English. Proficiency in other official South African languages is beneficial.
Desired Competencies
Applicants should ideally demonstrate:
- Knowledge of research methodologies, data collection, analysis, and report writing.
- Excellent typing, writing, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in key Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Knowledge of statistics, econometrics, sampling, and research design is advantageous.

- A willingness to undertake a variety of tasks, including fieldwork, instrument development, modelling, and data analysis.
- A proactive, self-starting, and team-oriented approach.
- Values aligned with PDG’s public interest orientation.
- Availability to be based full-time in either Cape Town or Johannesburg from July 2025.
