
The Experiment Digital Youth Leadership & Community Service is seeking applications for its upcoming program.
This initiative is designed to connect students across the United States with peers in Latin America, fostering global understanding and civic engagement.
Program Overview
This fully funded, eight-week virtual experience aims to equip high school students with the skills to formulate and implement service projects within their local communities.
Participants will engage in activities that enhance their understanding and practice of leadership, increase their involvement in civil society and volunteering, and build mutual understanding with youth from different countries.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible to receive a Certificate of Completion and a $400 scholarship towards participation in one of The Experiment in International Living’s summer 2026 programs.
They will also gain access to The Experiment Digital’s Alumni Network and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Application Information
Program Dates
The program will run from September 29 to November 23, 2025. The time commitment is 2-4 asynchronous hours per week, with an optional one hour per week for synchronous online meetings.
Application Deadline
The priority deadline for applications is May 12, 2025. The final deadline is August 25, 2025.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and applying by the priority deadline allows for earlier review and notification of admission.
Information Sessions
Interested applicants are encouraged to attend upcoming information sessions to learn more about the program. Sessions are available in English and Spanish.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to apply, individuals must:
- Be between the ages of 14–19 years old.
- Be currently enrolled in or have not yet completed high school.
- Reside in the United States or a participating country in Latin America.
- Possess basic English language competency.
- Have regular access to the Internet (internet support may be available upon request).
- Be able to devote 2-4 hours each week to the program.
The program seeks participants who demonstrate a commitment to the program’s goals, are passionate about developing their leadership and global communication skills, have an open-minded attitude, a strong desire to create social change, and have not had extensive travel experience.
Program Structure and Design
The program features a reasonable time commitment with primarily asynchronous work and optional synchronous sessions.
It utilizes safe and intimate group spaces for activities and feedback, despite connecting hundreds of students.
The program employs accessible, low-bandwidth technology using popular digital platforms and a range of activities to accommodate different learning styles.
A robust curriculum is designed to prepare participants to be future digital citizens through interactions with international peers, focusing on collaborative problem-solving, global communication, and digital etiquette
