This initiative is designed to develop and implement campaigns aimed at mobilizing youth globally to protect our ocean planet.
Program Overview:
By joining the YLC, selected members will enhance their skills as environmental leaders, gain insights into the operations of an international non-profit organization, and foster connections with peers and EarthEcho partners dedicated to creating a sustainable future.
Application Details:
The application for the 2025 Youth Leadership Council is open until May 5, 2025, and is available to young environmental leaders aged 15-22.
Applications can be submitted via GenSea, EarthEcho’s digital community platform that connects a global network of young ocean advocates.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Passion for environmental conservation and a record of leadership experience.
- Collaborative experience working effectively with youth and adult teams.
- Knowledge of ocean, environmental, and climate-related issues.
- A desire to support EarthEcho International’s mission, providing a youth perspective in program development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Application Questions:
Applicants must prepare responses to the following essay prompts (maximum of 250 words each):
- Why do you want to serve as an EarthEcho International Youth Leadership Council Member?
- What unique skills and experiences will you bring to the Youth Leadership Council, and how will these support the work of EarthEcho International?
- What leadership traits do you value? Describe an instance where you utilized these traits to organize a team and achieve a goal or overcome an obstacle.
- What motivates your advocacy? Share an environmental issue(s) you are passionate about and explain why.
Optional:
If applicable, describe how you would like to engage with new cohorts of EarthEcho Ambassadors after participating in EarthEcho programs.
Applicants may submit a video response for Question 4 instead of a written essay, with a maximum length of 3 minutes.
Additionally, applicants must secure a recommendation from a non-family member who can attest to their communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
This recommendation may come from a teacher, employer, or peer and must be submitted via the provided recommendation form by May 5, 2025.

- Final Date to Submit Applications: May 5, 2025, at 11:59 PM EDT.
- Interviews for Finalists: May 2025, via phone or video.
- Notification for Council Membership: Mid-June 2025.
