
UNICEF Ghana is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2025 cohort of the UNICEF StartUp Lab—a six-month acceleration programme dedicated to supporting tech-driven social impact startups.
This initiative is aimed at empowering young Ghanaian entrepreneurs who are dedicated to creating innovative solutions for children and youth in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The StartUp Lab targets 25 innovative startups operating in critical sectors, including Health, Education, Urban Services, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Climate Action, Child Protection, Finance, Agriculture, Blockchain, AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning), and Cybersecurity.
🧩 Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for participation in the programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- ✅ Registered business operating for at least one year
- ✅ Technology must be a core enabler of the business
- ✅ Business model must create measurable social impact aligned with the SDGs
- ✅ Startups with open-source innovations and female founders/co-founders are encouraged to apply
- ✅ Open to startups from all regions of Ghana
What You’ll Gain
Participants in the StartUp Lab will benefit from a range of financial and developmental support, including:
- 💰 Access to GHS 75,000 (~USD 5,100) in prototyping support
- 💰 Access to GHS 150,000 (~USD 10,300) in scale-up funding for three selected startups
- 💡 Hands-on business acceleration and mentorship
- ✅ Access to investment opportunities, including the UNICEF Venture Fund
- 🤝 Collaboration opportunities with UNICEF Ghana programmes in health, education, and protection

Interested startups are encouraged to submit their applications by May 15.
