Your lens. Your story. Our Europe! The WeBalkans organizing committee is excited to announce a unique opportunity for young aspiring photographers to showcase their talent while capturing the essence of sports as a catalyst for inspirational change in the Western Balkans and Europe.

Contest Overview:
Participants are invited to submit their best sports-themed photographs that depict the power of unity, inclusion, and partnership within the context of sports.
In this contest, individuals and teams are encouraged to explore how sports mirrors life, highlighting values of teamwork, perseverance, respect, and cultural cooperation.
The winning entries will receive a monumental reward: a chance to attend the Ljubljana Sports Festival!
Who Can Participate?
This contest is open to young individuals aged 18-29 from the Western Balkans region, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia,* and Serbia.
Participants need not be professional photographers; the emphasis is on the message conveyed through the photograph.
Understanding the Core Message
The central theme of the contest revolves around the message your photograph communicates. As an essential component of European identity, sports help strengthen community bonds, reflecting the shared goals and teamwork inherent in the EU integration journey in the Western Balkans.
Participants are encouraged to consider sports as a representation of inclusion, unity, and partnership, while also embodying themes of perseverance, respect, prosperity, EU enlargement, peace-building, and cultural cooperation.
What’s in it for Participants?
Upon conclusion of the contest, a jury will evaluate all entries and select 18 winning photos – 3 from each of the Western Balkans entities.
The chosen photographs will be featured in a traveling exhibition across 6 towns in the Western Balkans, in partnership with the Europe Houses.
Each contributor will have the opportunity to attend the exhibition openings corresponding to their locality.
Furthermore, the public will be invited to vote online for their six favorite photos at webalkans.eu.
The six finalists, determined by public votes, will secure an exhilarating trip to the Ljubljana Sports Festival for the grand finale of the contest.
Important Contest Rules
- The deadline for photo submission is May 24, 2025. Late entries will not be considered.
- Photos must be submitted in high resolution (greater than 12 megapixels), in JPEG format, and should not exceed 10 MB in size.
- Each submission should include the participant’s full name, entity in the Western Balkans, contact details, photo title, and a brief description (maximum 500 characters without spaces).
- Winners will be notified via email and must confirm their acceptance within 7 days; failure to do so could result in disqualification.
- The working language of the contest is English.
- Each participant may submit up to 2 original photographs, respecting all copyright laws.
Participants will retain the copyright of their submitted works, but by entering the contest, they grant the organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, publish, and display the submitted photos for promotional and non-commercial purposes, including but not limited to exhibitions, social media, websites, and printed materials.
