The Movement Building Programme (MBP) at Amnesty International International Secretariat (IS) is excited to announce a Call for Applications for a reviewer to conduct the ‘section recognition review’ process for its office in Nigeria.
This is a significant opportunity for an experienced consultant to contribute to the growth and effectiveness of Amnesty International’s operations in Nigeria.
Purpose
The ‘section recognition review’ aims to evaluate smaller-scale national entities, referred to as ‘structures’ or ‘national offices,’ aspiring to transition to larger operational entities known as ‘sections.’
This review will critically assess the design and operational effectiveness of Amnesty International Nigeria’s (AI Nigeria) practices, performance, resources, governance arrangements, and overall adherence to expected operational standards prior to any status change.
Consultancy Timeline
- Consultancy Period: July 2025 for 3.5 months until mid-October 2025.
- Application Deadline: 1 May 2025
- Consultancy Fee: GBP 12,000.00
Objectives and Deliverables
The consultancy will deliver:
An in-depth understanding of AI Nigeria’s operations as an Amnesty entity, focusing on its capabilities and progress over time.
A comprehensive desk review and a series of interviews with a diverse range of stakeholders, including the AI Nigeria Board, staff, and external partners, as well as staff from the IS. It is important to note that the review will be conducted remotely; there is no additional budget for travel.
A draft report compiled from the collected data, highlighting the main findings of the review.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must possess the following skills and experience:
- Extensive experience in evaluation and organizational development, particularly in multinational contexts.
- A solid understanding of the needs, opportunities, and challenges of a worldwide membership organization, especially those with a federated global governance model.
- Familiarity with Amnesty International entities, including knowledge of Board/staff relations, governance, resources, organizational processes, activism, growth, and human rights work.
- Awareness and adaptability to various cultural and regional audiences, including differing communication styles.
- Proven experience working in the West and Central Africa region.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in interviewing techniques.
- Proficiency in online video conferencing platforms.
- The ability to meet tight deadlines consistently.
