Apply now for the Africa CDC 11th Annual Leadership in Mental Health Course

Applications are now open for the 11th Annual Leadership in Mental Health Course, taking place from June 2–12, 2025, at the American University in Cairo (AUC).

This course is part of the Africa CDC Mental Health Leadership Programme (MHLP), a three-year flagship initiative aimed at equipping the public mental health workforce with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively influence mental health policy, legislation, and practice at all levels of healthcare systems across Africa.

Key Sponsorship Information:

The Africa CDC will sponsor 25 participants for the course in 2024, and it highly encourages public health professionals who are developing innovative projects to enhance mental health systems in Africa to apply.

Additionally, limited scholarships are available from AUC for candidates from low-income countries in the Middle East, allowing for increased accessibility to this vital training.

Course Key Objectives:

  • To equip participants with methods to develop and scale up interventions for individuals with mental disorders in low-resource settings.
  • To enhance the leadership skills necessary for scaling up mental health care programs and promoting the human rights of individuals with mental disorders.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed specifically for individuals committed to improving care for those with mental disorders and advocating for their human rights, especially in environments where mental health resources are limited.

Prior expertise in a clinical specialty related to mental health is not essential.
