About the Challenge
The Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 6 aims to tackle the pressing issues surrounding global water, sanitation, and hygiene access.
Despite the recognition of these as basic human rights, progress toward SDG 6 is significantly lagging.
Currently, 2.2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water, and 3.5 billion lack safely managed sanitation facilities.
Additionally, over 419 million individuals still practice open defecation. School-aged children are disproportionately affected, with nearly half of schools worldwide lacking essential handwashing facilities, which has serious implications for public health.
Reckitt’s commitment to improving WASH conditions is evidenced by its collaborations with NGOs and local communities.
Through partnerships with organizations like Water.org, Reckitt has successfully enabled over 2.4 million people to gain access to clean water or sanitation facilities.
Since 2019, the Lead2030 SDG 6 challenge has supported 11 WASH entrepreneurs and is eager to expand its impact in 2025 by prioritizing initiatives focused on children and women/girls.
