
The German-Middle Eastern Fellowship is an exceptional chance for young journalists to engage in a meaningful cross-cultural exchange between Germany and the Middle East. T
his program seeks to facilitate the participation of up to five journalists from the Middle East—including Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestinian Territories, and Israel—to experience a two-month travel and work scholarship in Germany.
In parallel, the fellowship also offers German journalists a unique opportunity to work in the Middle East.
Key Program Objectives:
- Enhance understanding of political issues in Germany and the EU
- Acquire insights into cultural dynamics, mentality, and daily life in Germany
- Cultivate personal networks between journalists in the Middle East and Germany to bolster professional collaboration and mutual understanding
Who is Eligible to Apply?
- Young journalists from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestinian Territories, and Israel
- German journalists keen on working in the Middle East
- Applicants must be active journalists with a robust academic and professional background
- Proficiency in English is essential (knowledge of German is advantageous but not mandatory)
Fellowship Details:
Dates:
- Introductory conference in Berlin: October 29 – 31, 2025
- Fellowship period: November/December 2025
Scholarship Package:
- €5,000 stipend + €1,000 travel allowance
- Covers travel, accommodation, and food expenses throughout the fellowship
- No payment for journalistic work during the program
