The Office of Evaluation and Internal Oversight (EIO) is tasked with providing independent assurance, advice, investigation, and evaluation to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of UNIDO’s operations and internal governance processes.

The Evaluation Officer will work closely under the guidance of the Director of EIO and the Chief of the Independent Evaluation Unit (EIO/IEU).
Main Responsibilities
1. Evaluation Function:
- Manage and conduct impartial, independent, and credible evaluations.
- Provide advice on self-evaluations and manage evaluations of projects, programmes, and thematic areas.
- Source, hire, and supervise external consultants.
- Apply evaluation data collection and analysis tools; ensure compliance with UNIDO Evaluation Policy.
- Follow up on management responses and monitor the implementation of recommendations.
2. Promote Evaluation Function:
- Facilitate training and capacity building in evaluation.
- Develop best-practice policies and ensure their consistent application.
- Promote accountability and results-orientation within the organization.
3. Support Special Projects:
- Assist the Director of EIO and Chief EIO/IEU on special projects and assignments.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Organizational Requirements
Education: An advanced university-level degree (master’s or equivalent) in Economics, Business Management, Social Sciences, Engineering, or a related field. Formal training in evaluation is desirable.
Experience:
- A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in evaluation, particularly in developing countries, is required.
- Experience in identifying evaluation needs, formulating evaluation designs, and employing qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods is essential.
- Desirable experience in facilitating stakeholder workshops and knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau or PowerBI).
Language Skills: Fluency in written and spoken English is required; proficiency in other UN official languages is an asset.
