Competition Overview

Embarking on this journey, OHB SE, a prominent satellite developer in Europe, has partnered with SGAC to support two students or young professionals.

Entrants must produce a paper that delves into current trends and issues in the commercialization of space.

In light of initiatives such as NASA’s Commercial LEO Destinations (CLD) program, which aims to replace the International Space Station, there is a wealth of innovation and competition emerging in low Earth orbit (LEO).

Key Questions to Address:

  • How can new markets, technology developments, and scientific potentials be commercialized effectively?
  • Is the advent of space tourism, research, and adventure sufficient for a sustainable market, or are additional frameworks necessary?
  • What impact will subsidies have in fostering these new markets?

Papers will be evaluated on scientific content, originality, and clarity of concepts discussed.
