Organized by the Magamba Network in collaboration with CIVICUS, this remarkable hackathon invites developers, activists, designers, and changemakers to unite and co-create powerful, tech-driven solutions aimed at bolstering democratic engagement and advancing civic rights.
Participants in this groundbreaking event will be tasked with engineering solutions that address critical challenges, including:
- Strengthening Democratic Participation: Enabling citizens to engage in the democratic process in meaningful ways.
- Protecting Digital and Civil Rights: Developing tools that uphold individuals’ rights in the digital landscape.
- Combating Disinformation: Creating systems that identify and mitigate the spread of false information.
- Empowering Marginalized Voices: Ensuring that those historically sidelined can partake in and influence democratic processes.

Eligibility Criteria:
To participate, applicants must meet the following criteria:
✔️ Be between 18 to 35 years old
✔️ Reside in the Sub-Saharan Africa region
✔️ Each team must include at least one woman
✔️ Both technical and non-technical participants are encouraged to apply
In an exciting incentive, the top 5 projects presented at the hackathon will receive substantial support—each team will be awarded $7,500 in funding, along with incubation support and the invaluable opportunity to connect with a global network of digital democracy innovators.
