
Applications for the International Labour Organization (ILO)Internship Programme 2025 are now open!

- Duration of Contract: 3 to 6 months (starting on the 1st or the 15th of a given month)
The ILO Internship Programme provides a unique opportunity for you to:
- Increase your understanding of relevant international issues through direct involvement in the Office’s work and application of ILO principles, programmes, and strategies.
- Gain practical experience related to your field of study while working with the ILO.
Important Details for Applicants:
- You may apply to a maximum of three internship profiles; applications exceeding this limit will be automatically disqualified.
- A cover letter is required; applications without a cover letter will not be considered. CVs or résumés uploaded as attachments are not accepted.
- You can withdraw your application at any time via the Jobs Applied section of your profile.
- You may not be contacted during the active roster period; reapplications are encouraged if eligible.
- There is no guarantee of employment upon completion of the internship.
- Late applications will not be considered.
Eligibility Criteria:
You can only apply for an internship if you:
- Have no close relative serving in the ILO (mother, father, brother, sister).
- Have not previously undertaken an internship at the ILO.
- Are enrolled in a Master’s or Doctorate Programme, or have completed such a programme in the year preceding your application.
- Have a working knowledge of English (both oral and written) – this is mandatory.
How to Apply:
- Search for an internship profile via the ILO Jobs page (find the link at the bottom of this post).
- Select the internship profile you wish to apply for and create a profile on ILO Jobs.
- Complete your candidate profile and apply for your chosen internship.
- Ensure you attach a cover letter in the last section of your application before the deadline.
Selection Process:
- After a preliminary screening by the Human Resources Development Department (HRD), hiring departments will short-list applicants.
- You will be contacted if an internship opportunity matches your profile. If you haven’t been contacted within six months, you may reapply if still eligible.
- Shortlisted candidates may be contacted for a written test and/or interview, using technologies such as Skype, video, or teleconference.
Stipend/Financial Compensation:
- Interns in Geneva will receive a monthly stipend of 2,450 CHF, unless compensated by another institution. If partial funding is received, the ILO will cover the difference to ensure this stipend.
- Additionally, interns will receive CHF 45 per month for medical insurance coverage during the internship.
- Qualified candidates from non- and under-represented countries may be eligible for a special fund providing financial assistance for round-trip airfare (economy class), alongside the stipend.

Please note that the ILO does not take responsibility for any costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the internship. It is essential to have adequate personal insurance coverage.
