The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) invites applications for the position of Graduate Professional (Conventional Arms and Ammunition Programme)!

Occupational rate: 100%
Duration: 6 months
Remuneration: A stipend is offered as a contribution to living expenses (USD 665/month

UNIDIR, based in the Palais des Nations, Geneva, conducts independent research focusing on disarmament and related international security issues.

UNIDIR strives for a world free from the threats of arms-related violence, supporting Member States and the UN in advancing sustainable peace initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Graduate Professional, you will work under the supervision of the Head of Programme to perform tasks including:

  • Conducting background research and analysis
  • Providing administrative support to the programme (planning and implementing activities, record-keeping, and monitoring)

  • Communicating with project partners
  • Completing other tasks as required

Essential Qualifications:

Education: Applicants must be enrolled in or recent graduates from a graduate school programme or have graduated within the past year.

Preferably, a degree in international law or social/behavioral sciences (political sciences, international affairs, etc.).

Work Experience: No professional work experience required, but interest in conventional arms control is advantageous.

Languages: Fluency in English (oral and written) is required; knowledge of another UN language is desirable.

  • Excellent written communication ability
  • Organizational skills for multitasking
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
