Position Summary

BioCarbon Standard is actively seeking professionals with robust technical and analytical skills to join the Energy and Waste sector team.

This role will involve evaluating carbon projects centered on renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste treatment, biogas generation, and fossil fuel replacement.

Additionally, the candidate will support the development and validation of methodologies in these vital areas.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate projects in clean energy, fuel switching, anaerobic digestion, solid and liquid waste management, and energy recovery to assess potential emissions reductions and technical viability.

Conduct detailed analyses of baseline scenarios, emission factors, additionality, and GHG (Greenhouse Gas) reduction calculations in line with relevant standards and protocols.

Support the development, review, and enhancement of sectoral methodologies, technical benchmarks, and best practices for energy and waste-related projects.

Collaborate with third-party auditors, consultants, and technical stakeholders to ensure the accurate and consistent application of methodologies and validation processes.

Review engineering reports, technical specifications, and GHG quantification models to assess compliance with regulatory and technical requirements.

Work closely with internal teams to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment in project assessments and technical outputs.

Preferred Profile

  • A degree in Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, or Energy Engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience working with carbon standards, such as CDM (Clean Development Mechanism), VCS (Verified Carbon Standard), or other relevant certifications, with a focus on energy and waste projects.

  • Strong knowledge of GHG accounting, emission reduction methodologies, and project validation and verification processes.

  • Proficient in working with quantitative data, emissions models, and technical documentation to drive accurate assessments and recommendations.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to manage complex data and technical assessments.

Experience by Level

  • Junior (1-2 years): Solid foundational knowledge and technical capability, eager to specialize in energy and climate solutions. Ability to support project evaluations and methodology applications with guidance.

  • Mid-Level (3-5 years): Independent in project evaluation, capable of applying sectoral methodologies and validating technical specifications. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage multiple aspects of projects.

  • Coordinator (6+ years): Proven technical leadership in energy and waste-related carbon initiatives. Strong expertise in managing complex projects, leading teams, and guiding the development and implementation of sector-specific methodologies.
