Position Summary
We are looking for individuals with backgrounds in conservation, ecology, or biodiversity monitoring to join our dedicated Biodiversity Technical Team.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in the measurement, monitoring, and integration of biodiversity impacts within projects certified under the BioCarbon Standard, contributing to advancements in nature-based crediting frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Biodiversity Monitoring Assessment: Evaluate biodiversity monitoring plans and strategies within project documentation to ensure they are effective and aligned with project objectives.
Development of Biodiversity Indicators: Assist in the creation of measurable biodiversity indicators and metrics to accurately track and assess project impacts.
Methodology Creation and Validation: Support the development and validation of methodologies focused on biodiversity conservation, ensuring scientific soundness and operational feasibility.
Alignment with Global Standards: Ensure project reporting aligns with international biodiversity standards and frameworks, maintaining consistency with global best practices.
External Collaboration: Engage with external experts and partners to stay updated on trends and tools in biodiversity monitoring and assessment.
Internal Integration: Collaborate with internal teams to include biodiversity considerations into project development, ensuring they are central to project design and implementation.
Preferred Profile
- Educational Background: Degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, or related fields.
- Technical Experience: Hands-on experience in ecological inventories or impact assessments, demonstrating the ability to assess and monitor biodiversity.
- Knowledge of Biodiversity Standards: Familiarity with biodiversity crediting frameworks and Nature Positive approaches in relation to carbon or land-use projects.
- Report Writing & Data Interpretation: Strong ability to translate complex ecological data into clear technical reports, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
Experience by Level
- Junior (1–2 years): A strong foundation in biodiversity; eager to learn and grow.
- Mid-level (3–5 years): Proficient in methodological support and independent in conducting assessments.
- Coordinator (6+ years): Proven leadership and influence in biodiversity projects, with a track record in shaping methodologies.
