
The application process for the UNESCO/Poland Co-Sponsored Fellowships in Engineering for the year 2025 is officially open.
Interested candidates must submit their applications by Monday, 12 May 2025, Midnight Paris time.
About the Programme:
In an effort to enhance human resource capabilities in developing nations and foster international understanding, the Polish National Commission for UNESCO, in partnership with the UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology, and Engineering at AGH University of Krakow (Poland), is offering twenty-eight (28) fellowships.
These fellowships will allow beneficiaries to conduct individual research projects in the fields of Science, Technology, and Engineering for a duration of 6 months, with the fellowship period scheduled from 1 October 2025 to 31 March 2026.
Invited Member States (57):
The fellowship is open to candidates from various regions, including:
- Africa (21 Member States): Angola, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Africa, and more.
- Arab States (2 Member States): Bahrain, Iraq.
- Asia and the Pacific (22 Member States): Bhutan, Fiji, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Vietnam, and others.
- Latin America and the Caribbean (12 Member States): Barbados, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and more.
Duration and Place of Fellowship Study:
The selected fellows will study for 6 months at AGH University of Krakow, located at A. Mickiewicza Ave 30, PL 30-059 Krakow, Poland.
Qualifications Required:
Candidates should review Annex III (see links at the bottom of this post) for specific qualifications related to their targeted fields of study. Note that certain projects may limit eligibility to candidates from specific regions.
How to Apply – Guidance for Candidates:
Candidates interested in applying should follow these steps:
Prepare your application, including:
- The completed UNESCO fellowships application form.
- A copy of your passport and a recent identity photo.
- Certified copies of your academic degrees.
- A language knowledge certificate if applicable.
- Two letters of recommendation from knowledgeable referees.
Submit the application and documents to your National Commission. It is crucial to submit your application early, as they must forward selected applications to UNESCO by 12 May 2025.
Once nominated, send your application via email to agh.poland@unesco.org (with uniune25@agh.edu.pl and Fellowships.Engineering@unesco.pl in copy) and complete the online information sheet.
Submission and Selection of Candidates:
Only applications that receive endorsement from the National Commissions for UNESCO will be accepted by UNESCO.
The selection will be based on various factors, including gender equality and diversity, and results will be communicated to the National Commissions of the selected fellows.
Facilities Offered by the Polish Authorities:
Beneficiaries will receive:
- Free tuition and access to university facilities.
- A monthly allowance of 1800 PLN for BSc students and 2200 PLN for MSc students.
- A one-time special allowance upon arrival.
Facilities Offered by UNESCO:
UNESCO provides:
- Coverage for international travel expenses.
- Health insurance during the fellowship.
- A one-time pocket allowance of US$120.
VISA:
Fellows must obtain their entry visa beforehand, depending on their country of origin. Please note that financial assistance for visas or passports is not provided by UNESCO or the Polish government.
