Background
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is dedicated to supporting global human development by promoting volunteerism and mobilizing volunteers.
Operating under the auspices of UNDP, UNV aims to foster cohesive societies while recognizing volunteerism’s essential economic and social contributions.
The role of the Regional Coordinator for IVY 2026 is pivotal in leveraging collective efforts to promote volunteerism across various UN member states.
This position will support outreach, partnership building, and advocacy as part of the International Year of Volunteers 2026 initiative.
Key Responsibilities
1. Outreach, Advocacy, and Partnership Building
- Lead a stakeholder mapping exercise in collaboration with the Regional Portfolio Manager.
- Conduct regional outreach to promote IVY 2026, enhancing engagement with governments, civil society, private sectors, and academic institutions.
- Strengthen partnerships through networking events, webinars, and thematic discussions.
- Represent UNV in relevant regional forums and advocate for IVY 2026 initiatives.
- Adapt communication materials for regional relevance to enhance visibility.
2. Coordination and Implementation
- Designate national IVY 2026 Focal Points and support effective national committee functioning.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and experience exchange among stakeholders in the region.
- Assist in integrating IVY 2026 into ongoing initiatives within UNV and Field Units.
- Engage in peer exchanges with other Regional Coordinators to align strategies.
3. Monitoring, Reporting, and Knowledge Management
- Track and evaluate IVY 2026 initiatives and their impact.
- Collect and analyze data on volunteer engagement.
- Prepare documentation, including reports, briefing notes, and success stories, to inform future initiatives.
Expected Outcomes:
- Establishment of national IVY 2026 Focal Points and Committees actively leading volunteerism initiatives.
- Successful regional advocacy campaigns increasing awareness and engagement.
- Strengthened regional partnerships through collaboration on IVY 2026.
- Comprehensive documentation of best practices and lessons learned.
- Enhanced capacity of stakeholders to sustain volunteerism efforts beyond IVY 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
- Age: Candidates must be between 18 – 80 years.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in stakeholder engagement, advocacy, programme management, or partnership building.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Development, Project Management, Social Sciences, or related fields; Master’s degree preferred.
- Languages: Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of Arabic and French is desirable.
