About the Team and Role
As part of the drive to build the future of eCommerce product discovery, eBay is seeking a data-driven, AI-savvy problem solver to join them for a 3-month Summer Internship starting in May or June at their Richmond office.
This unique role will sit at the crossroads of data analytics, AI/ML model evaluation, and prompt engineering, offering a perfect opportunity for someone who is equally adept at writing SQL queries and Python scripts as they are at experimenting with LLMs for analytical solutions.
Interns will play a crucial role in the Product Knowledge organization, working on optimizing taxonomy, ontology, and catalog data for next-gen search and AI-driven experiences.
This role promises a high-agency, startup-style environment. If you thrive in fast-paced, product-focused settings and enjoy collaborating closely with AI/ML, Product, and Engineering teams, this internship is for you.
What You’ll Do:
- Analyze & Optimize eCommerce Product Data: Conduct deep SQL and Python analyses to identify opportunities for improvement in taxonomy, ontology, and structured data for enhanced search and discovery.
- Leverage LLMs for Analytical Solutions: Apply prompt engineering techniques to create AI-driven approaches for taxonomy validation, data enrichment, and classification.
- Evaluate & Improve AI/ML Models: Develop and implement evaluation frameworks for product knowledge models, embeddings, and semantic search solutions.
- Drive Insights & Strategy: Utilize data-driven storytelling to influence product and AI teams, shaping decisions on catalog optimization, entity resolution, and knowledge graph development.
- Integrate with AI/ML Teams: Collaborate closely with data scientists and engineers to test and fine-tune AI-based classification, search ranking, and recommendation models.
- Prototype and Experiment: Adapt quickly, test hypotheses, and build fast experiments to validate structured data strategies and AI-driven discovery improvements.
