How can you make a difference?
The Terms of Reference (TOR) highlight key interventions and expectations for dedicated consultants, preferably international, who will support provincial cholera responses in WASH in Angola.
The consultants will be based at provincial levels as part of a multisectoral team and will frequently travel to identified hotspots.
The role includes:
- Joining the multisectoral field teams of UNICEF and WHO to promote joint efforts in Health, Social and Behavioral Change (SBC), and WASH.
- Assessing the ongoing WASH response and reporting findings to relevant authorities.
- Participating in government-led meetings to contribute to decision-making and inform UNICEF regarding the cholera response.
- Providing on-the-job training to improve the quality of WASH responses.
- Supporting rapid response teams in transitioning to effective household and community-level interventions.
- Implementing and scaling up innovative WASH solutions, including the “bucket chlorination” and “water truck” approaches.
- Conducting end-user monitoring of UNICEF cholera supplies and coordinating replenishments.
- Mobilizing WASH actors in the response efforts.
To qualify for this vital role, you will have:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in outbreak response, public health, and WASH programs.
- Experience in WASH coordination in emergencies or sector coordination.
- Deployment experience in humanitarian situations is desired.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, including fluency in Portuguese or any Latin-based language.
- Strong report-writing skills and experience with mobile information management apps.
