About the Fellowship

The Peering Fellowship supports individuals committed to making Internet access affordable, reliable, and robust.
Its focus is on improving local interconnection infrastructure and advocating for a conducive policy environment that nurtures a thriving Internet ecosystem.
This engaging program aims to empower 15 peering and interconnection professionals with the necessary skills, knowledge, and tools to navigate the complexities of Internet infrastructure while fostering community development through networking at peering events.
This fellowship is part of the ongoing efforts by the Internet Society to support initiatives for affordable and reliable Internet access.

Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must meet the following conditions to apply:
- Reside in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, or the Asia-Pacific region.
- Hold a valid passport for travel to events:
- LAC: Valid until April 2026
- APAC: Valid until June 2026
- Africa: Valid until February 2026
- Able to participate in sessions and travel to one of the following events:
- AfPIF: 19-21 August 2025
- LACNOG: 6-10 October 2025
- Peering Asia: 4-6 November 2025
- Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the Internet industry.
- Commit to fully participate in the six-month experience, requiring roughly four hours per week and availability for virtual meetings between 11:00-15:00 UTC.
- Have reliable access to broadband Internet and appropriate devices.
- Possess a working proficiency level in verbal and written English as the fellowship will be conducted in this language.
- Participants from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States are particularly encouraged to apply.

Importantly, these committees will remain impartial by not having access to any demographic identifiers of the applicants.
