Position Overview:
As the Events Officer, this individual will be responsible for managing all IWRA’s face-to-face and online events, coordinating stakeholder management and administrative activities in conjunction with the Executive Director.
This role requires strong multitasking abilities, administrative expertise, and solid event management experience, with a keen attention to detail.
Working within a dynamic international team, the Events Officer will report directly to the Executive Director, collaborating with various teams and stakeholders to ensure successful events.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all IWRA online and in-person events, ensuring successful stakeholder management and administrative tasks.
- Work closely with the Communications Team, collaborating with the Executive Board, Task Forces, Working Groups, Geographic Chapters, and key partners.
- Support International Scientific Committees (ISCs) and local hosts in overseeing abstract and proposal submission processes and event program development.
- Manage a team of part-time Webinar Officers, ensuring effective operations across various events.
- Oversee attendee management and follow-ups with event stakeholders, including speakers and rapporteurs.
- Provide comprehensive reports and updates to the Executive Board and ISCs for meetings and events.
- Capture outcomes and outputs from events, preparing reports for sharing on IWRA’s platforms.
- Collaborate with Executive Office and Board members to design and implement IWRA’s events strategy, including future event hosts and sponsorship opportunities.
- Select appropriate digital platforms for online events in partnership with the Communications Team.
Candidate Profile:
Essential Qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience in planning, organizing, and hosting international high-level events.
- Excellent people management skills and the ability to coordinate diverse groups across multiple time zones.
- Proficiency in online meeting/event platforms like Zoom and Teams.
- Proven track record of identifying new hosts, partners, and sponsors.
- Fluent in written and spoken English with excellent communication skills.
- Competence in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and other relevant software.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge of French/Spanish or another official UN language.
- Understanding of the water sector, political sciences, or hard sciences.
- Insight into event marketing and communication strategies.
- Creative thinking and an eye for effective design.
Duration and Payment:
The position is offered for 12 months, with potential for renewal, and provides 3,400 € / month (gross) on a contract basis (approximately 35 hours per week).
IWRA operates on a remote working model, with an option for a physical workspace at its offices in Paris, France.
