
Call for Applications: Project Officer

Your mission:
The Project Officer will be instrumental in supporting Ethiopian-led and Ethiopian-owned dialogue efforts across multiple, interconnected levels, including both national and sub-national initiatives, while engaging specific stakeholder groups.
Overview of the position:
- Hours: 100%
- Starting date: 1st of May 2025
- Duration: Limited contract until 31st of January 2026, with the possibility of extension depending on project funds
- Location: Berlin, Germany (with frequent intercontinental travels)
- Department & Reporting line: General Regional Peace Support Department, reporting to the Head of Unit Ethiopia and Senior Project Manager
Your main tasks:
- Contribute to the organization, coordination, and implementation of project activities in Ethiopia in close collaboration with the project team and partners based in Addis Ababa.
- Conduct background research and provide the team with summaries on conflict topics as needed.
- Assist in the content preparation and subsequent organization of workshops in both Berlin and Addis Ababa.
- Work closely with Finance Managers and colleagues engaged in logistics concerning budget planning and project activities.
- Contribute to project proposal development, donor reporting, as well as administrative and financial procedures.
Your knowledge, experience & skills:
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, International Relations, or a similar discipline.
- Initial relevant work experience, particularly in event organization, budget management, and task coordination within an international and intercultural context.
- Ideally possesses thematic knowledge on dialogue/mediation processes and contextual expertise related to Ethiopia/Horn of Africa.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is essential.
- Exceptional organizational skills, alongside strong intercultural and interpersonal communication abilities to navigate high-level settings.
- Must demonstrate curiosity, empathy, passion, commitment, and perseverance.
- Willingness to travel to the Horn of Africa Region.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
