Being Initiative is Funding Bold Ideas for Youth Mental Health in 12 Countries: Apply Now!

Being Initiative is excited to announce a Call for Applications for funding bold ideas focused on youth mental health and well-being in 12 priority countries: Colombia, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Morocco, Pakistan, Romania, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Vietnam.

This initiative seeks innovative approaches to prevent and promote mental health, specifically targeting underserved young people aged 10 to 24 years.

Focused Funding Opportunities

Applications are encouraged for two distinct funding opportunities aimed at addressing the early drivers of mental health and well-being among young people:

Proof-of-Concept (POC) Funding

  • Up to $250,000 CAD available.
  • Designed for early-stage projects implementing, testing, and refining solutions that tackle personal, social, or environmental factors affecting youth mental health in one of the 12 priority countries.

Transition-to-Scale (TTS) Funding

  • Funding ranging from $300,000 CAD to $1,500,000 CAD.
  • Intended for organizations with tested mental health promotion approaches that have demonstrated positive outcomes and the potential for high impact.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Legally incorporated organizations (or their equivalent) in any country can apply, but applicants must implement their projects in the 12 priority countries.

    Preference will be given based on the following criteria:

    • Youth-led organizations: 50% or more of the staff in key leadership roles are youth aged 35 and under, based in the 12 priority countries.
    • Organizations based in the 12 priority countries.

    • Organizations from low- and middle-income countries partnering with local organizations in at least one of the 12 priority countries.
    • Other eligible organizations.

    Application Process
    There is a two-stage application process:

    1. Stage One: Complete a screening questionnaire and submit a project summary.
    2. Stage Two: Only those applications that pass the screening will be invited to submit a full project application.

    Important Application Information

    • All applications must be submitted via the online application form accessible through Grand Challenges Canada’s Fluxx Portalhttps://gcc.fluxx.io.
    • New users must register for an account at least 7 days before the intake deadline.

    Key Deadlines

    • Register on Fluxx by Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. ET (3:59 a.m. GMT).
    • Submit applications by Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. ET (6:00 p.m. GMT).
