What is the UN Talent Pipeline?
A Capacity-Building Programme: The UN Talent Pipeline is a strategic initiative designed to enhance the readiness of professionals from developing countries, particularly those considered unrepresented or underrepresented, for career opportunities within the UN Secretariat.
By offering targeted training, mentorship, and networking opportunities, this programme helps strengthen job applications and enhances competitiveness in the UN recruitment process.
Key Support
This initiative receives vital support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China through the Trust Fund for UN Peace and Development.
It directly contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 16.8, which emphasizes broader participation of developing countries in global governance.

Are You Eligible?
Criteria for Applicants
Must be a mid-career professional from a United Nations Member State categorized as developing and either unrepresented or underrepresented.
Should hold a Master’s degree with at least five years of relevant experience (or seven years with a Bachelor’s degree).
The educational background must align with the specific talent pipeline being applied for.
Must possess at least an intermediate level of English in all four areas: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Note: Current UN Secretariat staff members are not eligible to apply. However, personnel from UN Funds, Programmes, and Specialized Agencies may apply if they meet all other eligibility criteria.
Participation Details
Candidates may choose from nine specialized job families and are encouraged to apply today. It’s essential to note that you can only apply to one pipeline at a time.
Financial Commitment:
Participation in the programme does not require a financial commitment from either side. However, accepted participants must fully commit to completing a structured training and capacity-building programme, involving approximately three to five hours per month over a three to six-month period.
The training will incorporate both self-paced learning and instructor-led virtual group webinars.
While participation does not guarantee employment within the UN Secretariat, the skills and knowledge gained through the training may significantly enhance candidates’ competitiveness for UN positions.
