CICOPS SCHOLARSHIPS 2026
To foster international cooperation, especially with Developing Countries as classified by the World Bank, the University of Pavia in collaboration with EDiSU (Institute of the Right to University Studies) is offering 6 scholarships for visiting scholars for the year 2026.
Deadline for applications: May 31st, 2025.
Each scholarship grants a period of stay of 4 to 12 weeks at the University of Pavia.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience or relevant work within international organisations and institutions.
- Open to junior and senior members of universities in Developing Countries or associated with major research centres or international institutions focused on development studies.
- CICOPS scholarships are designated for short-term research collaboration, aimed at encouraging mobility from developing countries.
- Note: Applicants currently enrolled in a Doctoral or Postgraduate Course at an Italian university are not eligible to apply.
EVALUATION AND SELECTION
The selection will be completed by June 30th, 2025, by a committee comprising:
- The President of CICOPS
- Two members designated by the Rector
Evaluation criteria will include:
- Scientific relevance of the proposed project.
- The qualifications outlined in the candidate’s Curriculum Vitae.
- A fair distribution of grants among involved departments and geographical regions of the applicants.
In situations where candidates have equal scientific and professional merit, preference will be given to:
- Applicants from lower-income economies.
- Applicants associated with universities/institutions linked to the University of Pavia through a pre-existing Cooperation Agreement.
- Applicants introduced formally to the committee by an Honorary Consul linked to the University of Pavia.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- The scholarship covers travel, meals, accommodation expenses, health insurance, and provides a contribution of 150.00 Euro (gross) per week.
- Selected scholars must confirm their acceptance of the scholarship within 20 days of notification.
- Accommodation will be arranged by EDiSU, contingent upon availability of rooms for the agreed period.
- Candidates must comply with all regulations and health safety protocols set forth by the University.
At the conclusion of their stay, scholars are required to submit a report detailing their work and any articles/publications resulting from their research.

The period of stay for scholars should be within the following dates:
- January 12th – July 24th, 2026
- September 7th – December 18th, 2026

- Curriculum Vitae in European format with a list of publications
(File name: Surname_Name_CV) - Invitation letter from the professor or researcher you plan to collaborate with

Important: Applications without properly named documents will be disregarded.
Candidates should complete the application form only after receiving the acceptance letter from their contact professor at the University of Pavia.
Incomplete applications will be rejected without any exceptions.
