African Leadership Centre: Peace, Security & Development Fellowships and Bursaries for 2025 – 2026

The African Leadership Centre (ALC) is pleased to announce a call for applications for its Peace, Security & Development Fellowships and Associate Fellowships for the academic year 2025/2026.
About the ALC
Established in 2010, the African Leadership Centre (ALC) aims to build an inter-generational community of transformative leaders, producing cutting-edge knowledge that serves as a catalyst for a new peace, security, and development agenda in Africa.
The ALC invests in creating transformative leaders through various platforms including:
- Multi-dimensional forms of knowledge development
- Community building among value-driven leaders
- Engagement through a catalytic ‘public square’ for a new agenda in Africa
The Centre operates from its bases in Nairobi, Kenya, and King’s College, London.
AFRICAN LEADERSHIP CENTRE FELLOWSHIPS
For the academic year 2025/2026, the ALC will offer three types of fellowships:
- Fellowships for African Scholars in Peace, Security and Development
- Associate Fellowships Bursaries for African Students in Peace, Security and Development
- Bursaries for Associate Fellowships in Global Leadership and Peacebuilding for the Global South
1. Fellowships for African Scholars in Peace, Security and Development (degree awarding)
About this Fellowship:
This award aims to engage young African scholars who aspire to make impactful contributions in leadership, security, and development.
- The fellowship lasts for eighteen (18) months, featuring rigorous academic research, impactful writing, and policy analysis on relevant issues, culminating in a six (6) month attachment to a leading African university or regional organization.
- The program integrates a master’s course in Global Leadership and Peacebuilding at King’s College London, supplemented with mentoring programs that include group sessions and institutional visits.
- Fully funded opportunity available (excludes visa costs).
Eligibility and Applications:
Candidates should be affiliated with an African academic or research institution and committed to advancing peace, security, and development. Detailed eligibility requirements can be found in the attached document.

2. Associate Fellowships Bursaries for African Students in Peace, Security and Development (degree awarding)
About this Associate Fellowship:
This bursary targets African students applying for the MSc Global Leadership and Peacebuilding at King’s College London for the 2025/26 academic year (starting September 2025).
- Eligible students will receive a bursary covering 25% of tuition fees plus £5,000 for living expenses.
- The program offers a blend of academic research, writing, and policy analysis, along with mentorship opportunities.
Eligibility and Application:
Requirements include being a student from Africa and commitment to ALC values.

About this Associate Fellowship:
This bursary is available for students from the Global South pursuing the MSc Global Leadership and Peacebuilding at King’s College London for the 2025/26 academic year.
- The bursary includes 25% of tuition fees and £5,000 for living expenses, blending academic rigor with practical mentorship experiences.
