Position Overview
Position Title: 2025 Summer Internship – Strategic Outreach
Location: Washington, District of Columbia (Hybrid)
Stipend: $4,000 per month
Duration: Summer 2025 (minimum of 250 hours)
Work Hours: Eastern Time (ET), hybrid or fully remote based on location.
About the Role
As an intern on the Strategic Outreach team, you will play a key role in supporting our advocacy and campaign efforts.
You will assist with engaging diverse stakeholders, contribute to digital content creation, and help maintain our digital presence. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting advocacy and campaign priorities with the Strategic Outreach team and the Refugee Advocacy Lab.
- Publishing and maintaining content on Refugees International’s website.
- Drafting multimedia, digital graphics, and written content for our platforms.
- Updating contact databases and disseminating digital communications through Marketo.
- Researching social media best practices and key advocacy targets.
- Keeping updated on current news related to our mission.
- Assisting with meetings, events, and special projects as needed.
Talents We Seek
We are looking for candidates who are:
- Enthusiastic about our vision and mission.
- Possessing strong writing and social media skills.
- Comfortable using tools like Adobe, Canva, or other digital design platforms.
- Familiar with GIS, data science, or graphic design (a plus).
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Highly interested in and knowledgeable about refugee issues.
- Lived experience of forced displacement is considered a valuable asset.
About the Strategic Outreach Team
The Strategic Outreach Team at Refugees International is dedicated to advancing the organization’s external engagement functions, such as communications, media relations, campaign management, and forming strategic partnerships.
About the Refugee Advocacy Lab
The Refugee Advocacy Lab, co-founded with partners including the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) and the International Rescue Committee (IRC), focuses on elevating the voices and perspectives of displaced individuals.
We aim to strengthen U.S. leadership on refugee protection through strategic communications and inclusive policy advocacy.
