
In the summer of 2025, the UC Berkeley Physics department will be hosting a free coding class for high school students, and it will be cast live for anyone wishing to learn the basics of coding!
Class Overview
The Python4Physics class is designed to equip students with essential tools to write simple code using the programming language Python.
Throughout the course, participants will tackle engaging concepts in Physics, Math, statistics, and, of course, programming by solving various problems numerically.
Students will learn to solve equations, conduct data analysis, and model different systems, among other techniques.
Format
- The class will be held in-person for a limited number of students at the UC Berkeley campus, allowing for intimate interactions with the lectures.
- Remote participants will have the opportunity to join via Zoom Webinar and can interact with the lectures in real-time.
Who Can Apply?
- This opportunity is open to everyone, regardless of their previous experience in Physics or Calculus. Basic algebra knowledge is required.
Important Dates
💠 Application Deadline:
Applications for in-person participation must be submitted by May 9, 2025.
Notification for those accepted for in-person attendance will be communicated by May 23, 2025.
Remote participants will be accepted after this date and until the start of the class!
Class Schedule
- Start Date: June 16, 2025
- End Date: July 11, 2025 (tentatively)
- Classes will meet three days per week for approximately 2 hours each session.

- Will computers be provided for in-person participants? The availability of computers is currently uncertain.
